Our 5 1/2yr old famale bites and takes treats like she is starving. We have had her for 3 years. She has bitten our son,(it was his falt) and out neice not sure who to blame there. She now bites at out 21/2 yr old male. She is trained and great most of the time. She has never out right atacked any one. Any suggestions. I would have to have to give her up of put her on drugs.
This is a simple fix-Before you give your dog the treat, make her/him sit. Then hold the treat in your hand, but to the side. When she tries to snap at the treat or lunch..give a big "uhhh UHH!" and pull the treat back. My 93 lbs. blue male will do that sometimes. Remember-the treat is a reward for good behavior..not just "because". Make her work for it. A nice stern tap on the nose when they snap will also help. I am by no means saying strike your pup...just a tap with a loud "uhh UHH.
I'd also recommend Stasi @ ABC pet training in Liberty...look up on the google. ---------- Cory Engineerguy57@yahoo.com

Thanks for the info. We gave it a try and it is helping. Her biting is at everything not just treats. She is really excited about anything that goes in her mouth, even our Male weim.
